First Ear Infection :(

Jadyn had her first ear infection this week. We discovered it was more than nothing on Wednesday. My Mom and I took her to urgent care Wednesday morning to discover that her left ear was buldging. The doc put her on penicillin and sent us on our way. Wednesday night she broke out in a rash (meaning she was possibly allergic to the penicillin). After a lengthy conversation with the on-call doc we decided not to take her to Children's Mercy but to wait it out for the night. The next morning we took her back to the doctors office to discover that the ear infection was in both ears BUT the rash was a fever rash. Thursday afternoon her fever broke and she has been better ever since. She is still rather cranky at times, but overall she is much more like herself. Greg and I are both pretty tired. I need to remember to tell my Mom and Dad thanks for all the times they had to stay up with me to keep me more comfortable!

She did learn to play in her chair while she was sick. My parents got her this adorable chair that she loves to play with. She discovered Thursday that she can get comfortable to read books or stand up on it to look out the window!

My parents also got Jadyn a Mizzou jersey and stocking hat. We thought she may bring good luck to the Tigers as they played Texas...but we all know that didn't work. Anyway, regardless of your college loyalty you MUST admit that she looks pretty darn cute in her jersey!

Life is better at the Franz's. Thankfully, Jadyn likes her medicine so it is easy to give it to her. She is getting better each day and we are considering ourselves blessed to have such a cute little girl!

Oh, did you notice I already put up a Christmas background? I have decided this year that I don't just want Christmas cuteness for 3 weeks but for much much longer! I even already put up my Christmas bulletin board at school :)

Happy Birthday to Jadyn

Jadyn's birthday was last week. I can't believe she is 1! She had a great weekend of celebrations. Her birthday party (the big shindig) was Sunday night at my parents house. We had a great time! Lots of our friends and family were there to help us celebrate! Here are a few pictures from that night!

This is Jadyn's monkey cake. We had a monkey "theme" for her birthday. I don't know if she even loves monkeys...but I do :)

Here are a few pictures of Jadyn opening her presents. She did pretty well until she was more interested in playing with her cousins than opening her gifts... I think she did well for her first time!





One of her presents was a slide, which she loves, but (thankfully) cannot figure out how to do it by herself. We love helping her slide.... for awhile :). Yes, MOM, we let her slide as much as we went even after our backs hurt...

I just like the next picture. Although you can't really see him that's my Dad Jadyn is sitting beside (she ADORES her Papa...It is so cute!) Jadyn got his BLUE eyes... I have them too, but Jadyn and my Dad's eyes are identical!


Jadyn isn't really into cake, but she loves ice cream (probably because that's how I gained every pound of my pregnancy weight...). She is eating ice cream with Aunt Kathy and laughing at Uncle Rod!


This is my precious Grandad, Leon aka Shorty. He loves me lots and he loves Jadyn too! I'm so happy that this picture is cute of us...even if Jadyn isn't really cooperating!


There you have it! We had a great weekend. We have no room for her presents but we (by we I mean me...but I'm trying to be polite) are trying to get things organized and put away. God is good to have blessed us with such a wonderful daughter! We love you Jadyn!

Jadyn's One Year Pictures

We had Jadyn's 1 year pictures taken and I love them all! Here are a few of our favorites. Great Great Aunt LaRue these are for you :)

Looking like a big girl!

My baby is starting to look like a big girl and I don't like it. :) She is growing up so fast... 1 on Thursday! Crazy crazy crazy!

Jadyn's bangs hang in her face but I don't want to cut them so I try to pull them up. Those of you who know Jadyn know that that only lasts for 5 minutes :). This is one day I got her hair up and she left it for awhile.

Her new favorite thing to do is clear out the cabinet. There is really only one she can get open and it is all her food. She stands up in the cabinet...it is so cute!

Saturday night we went over to Greg's uncle's house and met up with a lot of family. WE have no stairs in our house, but they do and Jadyn loved them! I was impressed that she did all the stairs the first time and she had never been on steps before.

Joey wanted Jadyn to check out his room. She loved sitting in his bean bag and she was surprisingly not afraid of his puppet. Here she is checking out the puppet.

I tried to get a picture of Jadyn and Joey together but Joey was very busy entertaining all of the little ones, I did manage to get a picture of Daniel and Jadyn.
We had a good time visiting with family and Jadyn had a good time playing with the boys.

Crazy little girl!

Tuesday Little Miss Jadyn didn't feel like taking an afternoon nap. Aunt Kathy rocked Jadyn for 45 minutes until I got home from school and then I took over for another 20. I finally gave in and let her get up to play again thinking she would go back down. At one point during our attempt to get JAdyn down I tried just putting her in the crib to see if she would go to sleep on her own. She played for a few minutes and then I heard a drumming sound. I got up to see what was going on and she was playing a nice little rhythm on the crib :)


Later that night we got Jadyn ready for her bath. She loves sitting on top of Greg, in fact, she normally uses his head as her bongo drum!

I took some cutie pics of Jadyn in the bath tub but decided that I shouldn't paste them all over her blog :)

Wednesday is her day with Nana. She had fun playing and shopping all morning with Nana and then when Nana goes to be with Alex and Carter, Jadyn goes down for a nap. When Jadyn got up she was very happy! I took a few pictures of her playing...although she moves so fast now I don't always get the best shots!



I have wanted a particular hat for Jadyn from Children's Place for quite some time and it finally went on sale! Of course once it went on sale I couldn't find it in the stores...but I was successful online. It came the other day and we took come modeling pictures... I'm not sure why I wanted the hat so badly because she won't leave it on her head...but if I can get her to she will look SO CUTE!!


We are approaching Jadyn's first birthday, and I just want to thank the people who are actively involved in Jadyn's life! She is such a special girl and I am so thankful for the influence each one of you have. We are blessed to have a circle of close friends and family who support us through the good and the bad and who love us unconditionally!

Alex's birthday was on Labor Day and so was his party. We partied hard at Mom and Dad's house and it was a gorgeous day! The boys love the swimming pool and ended up getting in the freezing cold water, but I wouldn't let Jadyn get wet! Instead we took her over to the new swing set and let her go down the slide for the first time! Needless to say, she loved it! I, of course, snapped a ton of pictures...here are a few of my favorites!

Joy

Friday morning before school in our staff devotions we had a reminder from the book of Nehemiah that "The Joy of the Lord is my Strength". I've been trying to focus in on this verse during the "rough patches" of the school day. I also got to thinking about how much joy my family brings! Greg is such an amazing husband and God blessed us with a truly joyful daughter! I snapped several pictures over the past few days...nothing specific just a few candids. Enjoy :)
